Giving the Gift that Keeps on Giving

Gifts to a council endowment fund are invested with other donated funds, with interest used each year to accomplish a number of operational goals. These revenues are used to provide ongoing maintenance and repairs at camp, provide camperships to deserving Scouts, and provide for new program development to meet emerging community needs.

The Boy Scouts of America provides a National Recognition Program for contributors to a council's endowment fund. Encouraging gifts to local council endowment funds is one of Scouting's highest priorities. It is one of the best ways to ensure that your council can continue to offer the outstanding programs it now has and also grow to meet the needs of the youth and communities it serves. In its gratitude for such support, the Boy Scouts of America offers three distinct recognition awards. These awards are presented by the council at their Annual Recognition Dinner held in June. These gifts are:

  • The James E. West Fellowship Award - a gift of $1,000.00 or more in cash or marketable securities, to a local council endowment fund.
  • The 1910 Society Award - a gift of $25,000.00 outright of a pledge payable witnin five years, to a local council endowment fund. (has various levels)
  • The Founders Circle Award - a gift of $100,000.00 or more in the form of a deferred gift commitment to a local council endowment fund. (has various levels)
