Bowl-A-Thon Structure:

Forms:

The Finger Lakes Council, BSA is proud to offer this event to units to earn money towards camp.  The way the Bowl-A-Thon works is each Scout collects a pledge for each pin he knocks down during 3 games of bowling.  The Finger Lakes Council provided THREE FREE GAMES of bowling for anyone who raises a minimum of .25 cents in pledges for pins or $25.00 in donations.  Leaders, Scouts, Parents, and Siblings are all eligible to participate.  These funds will go to support our local Scout programs, but the incentive is for each Scout to earn money towards camp.

Everyone who participates will receive a Bowl-A-Thon Patch.

A prize will be awarded to the Top Money Raiser and the Scout with the most sponsors in each district within the Finger Lakes Council

Unit Incentive:  Each unit (Pack, Troop, Crew, Post) has the opportunity to earn a 25% camp fees credit from the proceeds brought in by their unit to use toward camps operated by the Finger Lakes Council this summer or choose a lower percentage of 20% to enrich their treasuries.  As you can see if leaders and parents bowl that increases the amount your unit can earn.

Scout Incentive:  The Council provides a prize structure, in addition to the unit incentives, for Scouts to earn a free Camp Fee to attend a Finger Lakes Council sponsored camp:

·        A Cub Scout who raises $150-$250 will have a choice of receiving their full camp fee paid to Cub Scout Day Camp or a $80 credit towards Cub Resident or Webelos Resident Camp.

·        A Cub Scout or Webelos who raises $250 or more will have a choice of receiving their full camp fee paid to Cub Resident or Webelos Resident Camp.  If the Webelos Scout crosses over to Boy Scouts before the 2007 Camp season, then the Scout may apply $135 camp fee toward Boy Scout Summer Camp at Camp Babcock Hovey.

·        A Boy Scout who raises $300 or more will have a choice to receive their full camp fee paid for a week of Boy Scout Camp at Babcock Hovey or they can receive a credit of $165 towards any High Adventure trip such as Philmont or National Jamboree.

·        All Awards are transferable within the unit or family.

Attention Unit Leaders:  All funds raised must be turned in by the March Roundtable. If a unit has not turned in their money by the April Roundtable, their commission will be reduced to 10% and 5% (depending on which option the unit has chosen).  If money is not turned in by May 1st the unit will receive no commission.
